About
I am originally from New Jersey and moved to the Bay Area in 1971. I have always worked with wood in one way or another. I owned and operated a construction company for many years but retired in 2013.
HOW I STARTED:
While visiting a friend in the sierras I noticed a piece of manzanita tree in his firewood pile and loved the curves and colors. It turned out to be my very first piece, a stand. From there it expanded to coat/hat racks, tables, lamps and more. I always consider custom requests.
WHY I STARETD:
The textures, colors, twists and turns are what drew me to this wood. It is very hard and dense and is one of the hardest woods I have ever worked with. The artistic beauty of the Manzanita tree and the strength makes it not only great wood to make furniture with but to make art with as well. Each piece is unique. I make the bases with both wood and stone, and I try to repurpose as much as possible. The glass tops are all tempered glass.
